About Utopia

Utopia started as a street food concept built on passion, resilience, and community. It was founded by a woman entrepreneur, inspired by Plato’s idea of Utopia through her studies in philosophy and by the belief that a utopian society can still exist within a non-utopian world.
Utopia was created to bring people together through authentic food, culture, and a sense of belonging.

The Story Behind Utopia

The story of Utopia is inspired by recipes passed down from mothers in my community. I began cooking my mother’s sujuk recipe, while the vivid memory of the apple in the fattoush salad made by a friend’s mother also found its way onto our menu.I started this journey with the support of a McCain grant through TERN and KERB, which helped launch the street food business in London. Hosting Syrian Vegetarian Nights at Bonnington Café also became an important part of building community and creating meaningful connections through food.
The journey continued at Mercato Market Elephant & Castle, which became a major milestone for Utopia, before expanding to Mercato Canary Wharf.
From street food beginnings to Mercato Elephant & Castle and Canary Wharf, Utopia has continued growing through community support, partnerships, and the people who believed in our vision.

Utopia has always grown through the support of people who believed in our story and became part of our journey. Our real capital has never only been financial it has been the trust, encouragement, and support we received from our community.
That is why we chose crowdfunding. As a London based independent business we believe that we can only grow through the support of our local community.
We wanted the next chapter of Utopia to grow with the same people who helped shape it from the beginning our family, loyal customers, supporters, and wider community.

At Utopia, we are launching the Utopia Community Menu — a concept that gives people the opportunity to see their personal recipes and food stories become part of a real menu and shared with others.
People will be able to submit their favourite dishes and family recipes to Utopia, where selected recipes may become part of the Utopia Community Menu and the wider Utopia experience. Through this new concept, we aim to celebrate personal food stories while respecting and protecting the ownership, identity, and meaning behind every recipe shared with us.

No. Every Utopia card is a product you buy in advance and redeem later, and every card is worth more than you pay for it. You are pre-ordering food, catering, and experiences, at founding prices.

Why are we offering founding cards?

Because pre-orders let our loyal customers fund our growth while being rewarded for it, rather than us taking on debit or giving away ownership.

What does the 100k£ launch fund?

The founding launch supports the next stage of Utopia’s growth: strengthening the business and operations, developing the Utopia Community Menu and preparing for expansion across London and eventually the UK.
